Dear Yuletide Letter 2017

Dear Yuletide Author,
Thanks so much for picking one of my fandoms! I can pretty much guarantee that whatever you write me, I'll love (that's why I picked the fandoms I picked, after all) so don't feel pressured! Whatever you do, I'll love. A good, well written story is definitely much better than a poorly written story shoved together just to fill a prompt. So write what inspires you!
That being said, here's a quick list of things that make me love a story.
-I would really rather NOT read het (what can I say, girls have cooties!). I occasionally read gen, but I'd much rather read slash.
-I really really like slash.
-I like angst in my fics.
-I like dark topics (non-con/dub-con, h/c, trauma etc) not so much because the act of torturing someone is awesome (it's really not, although well-written S/M scenes are great) but because I like the psychological effects. I like reading the fall-out more than the act itself, if that makes sense.
-Some of these fandoms don't really lend themselves to dark fic, but don't worry! I like crack fics too!
I've offered a few story ideas specific to each fandom below in case your Muses aren't co-operating, but please don't feel obligated to go any particular direction. I'm happy to just read new stories in these often overlooked fandoms.
Red Dwarf
Red Dwarf is a fabulous fandom full of characters with surprising weaknesses. We know from the episode "Duct Soup" that Lister is claustrophobic, and hates the dark. The episode "Polymorph" shows that he's also terrified of snakes. This softer side of Lister appeals to me, and I would love a story where Rimmer and Lister are placed in a situation where these fears rear their ugly heads (and while I love smeghead!Rimmer, and don't mind if he's a complete bastard who totally takes advantage of Lister's discomfort, I would love it if Rimmer is surprisingly understanding, and helps Lister cope in some way).
Alternatively, if you're more of a Rimmer fan that a Lister fan, I love when Rimmer's light bee screws up, and he loses control of himself (think channeling the crew in "Queeg", the Holovirus in "Quarantine", running out of power in "Demons & Angels", the system crash in "Trojan", etc) so any fic where Rimmer loses his vaunted control would be greatly appreciated.
I've requested Lister and Rimmer because they are my OTP, but don't feel like you have to pair them if you don't want to, and don't think that just because I didn't ask for the rest of the Boys from the Dwarf I don't want to see them. Ensemble fics make me just as happy as pairing fics.
I try not to put limits on my authors, because I know how hard it is to write a fic for someone else... but I really do prefer my Rimmer as a hologram (either soft or hard-light, I don't care) and I prefer my Kochanski not on the Dwarf, so preferably nothing set during series 7 or 8. 'Back to Earth' and Series X are both perfectly acceptable, the Boys are still awesome even in their 40s and 50s.
Coldfire Trilogy
I like the dynamics between Tarrant and Vryce. I like that they have to work together even though neither one of them really wants to, and I like the sort of grudging respect they end up developing towards the end. However, I also like that (in my mind, at least) Tarrant's an evil bastard with a heart of pyrite. Let's keep him like that, okay? I really don't see the Hunter doing cute and fluffy. Also, I can't help but imagine that hate sex would be very satisfying for a being that feeds on negative emotions. I'm just tossing that out there ^_~.
Allstate - Mayhem Commercials
In my real life, I may or may not work in the insurance industry. You would think after 10 hours of staring at a computer sorting auto accidents, the last thing I would want to do is read about more insurance stuff. But! Then I found insurance fanfic.
Specifically, this fic series. And now I can't get the idea out of my head! I *love* the idea of Mayhem using his talents to help bring a little vengeance to the world. Plus, what's not to love about Dean Winters?
The Try Guys
I do love these boys. Their videos never fail to make me laugh. And, of course, they're adorable together, which is awesome. I don't normally lean towards RPF, but they really just make it too easy.
Need inspiration? Why not start with:
Edible lingerie
Valentine's Lingerie
Bondage Boys
Naked wrestling
Let's get stripping!
It's okay if you don't feel like sexy times for the boys. I'd love a cute friend fic. Maybe Zach is having a flair (I also have Ankylosing Spondylitis, so I know the sort of pain he goes through) and the other boys try to make him feel better? This is one of the few fandoms where cute and fluffy are perfectly acceptable.
Misfits of Science
I've loved this fandom for forever. I love the cheese, I love the humor, I love the camaraderie... but most of all I love Johnny B.! He lends himself to the h/c and the angst that I love so much in fic. I would love something dealing with his loss of fame, or his hydrophobia (srsly, this is not a good planet to be on when water burns like acid). An intricate plot would be awesome, but I'd even love something as simple as a character study. He's a complex character that could have seriously used more fleshing out.
